Plan Zheroes Volunteers and Cyclists
We are seeking new volunteers and cyclists to join our amazing team helping us ensure that no good food goes to waste.
Who we are
Founded in 2009, we are a registered charity with a mission to keep good food out of landfill and direct it to people instead. We do this by connecting businesses with surplus food to charities and community organisations that need it. Transactions are simple, quick and bear no cost to our charity partners and take place via our online platform.
Our collaboration with London’s prestigious Borough Market has resulted in daily surplus food collections, enabling high quality, fresh food to reach good causes. In addition to keeping perfectly good food out of landfill, we have redirected tonnes of non-food items to great causes.
We are a small, agile team, which can respond and adapt quickly. To date, we have managed to save 500+ tonnes of food from going into landfill, which is the equivalent of 1+ million meals and over 2,000+ tonnes of CO2 emissions saved.
Volunteering with Plan Zheroes
Become a Plan Zheroes volunteer and join our mission to fight food waste and help those in need.
By volunteering with us, you will:
- Rescue surplus food from Borough Market or Kings Cross Market in London
- Help get the surplus food to local charities and community organisations
- Be part of a team that’s tackling food waste head-on
We’re also looking for volunteers with particular skills in fundraising, photography, writing blogs and case studies, and researchers to help us connect with even more businesses to donate their surplus food.

Cyclists needed!
We’re also looking for more cyclists to join our collections at Borough Market – helping to deliver some surplus food by bike to a couple of charities local to the market.
