We say a big “thank you” to the lovely people at Openreach in Birmingham, who very kindly donated some hot food following an event for 150 people. The food was gratefully received by Tabor House, supporting homeless people in the city.
We are very grateful to the lovely team at Cambridge Associates who did a volunteering day at Borough Market. Not only did they help with the collection, including organising an extra delivery to the Salvation Army, they also made a very generous donation to support our work. Fabulous!
We are very grateful to one of our ambassadors, Kristen Frederickson, who visited the Oak Lodge school in Wandsworth this week to talk to some of the students about Plan Zheroes. This was part of our continuing work with the Hospitality Academy’s Pan Out2 project. Kristen’s presentation was very well received. The students were very […]
Thank you to Katie and the team at Canababes, a female-led catering company in Hackney Wick, London. They donated 60 chorizo frittatas, potato salad and bread to St Mark’s church in Kensington. They are our newest Zero Food Waste Heroes!
We are so pleased to hear that the lovely people at the First Steps Nursery are now receiving surplus food donations from the ISS team at Macclesfield hospital. It’s good to know that this food isn’t being wasted and is going to a worthy charity that can make use of it.
Thank you to Lauren and the team at Lady Dinah’s Cat Emporium in London, who donated some poppy seed rolls, sponge cake and macarons this week. They were gratefully accepted by the charity Our Place, who do amazing work in the community.
Thanks to Pauline, Ilze and Alex from the Rinova Pan Out2 team for inviting us to speak about Plan Zheroes to the students at Linden Lodge school. Pan Out2 raises the profile of the hospitality, tourism and leisure industries as exciting paths for career progression. The young people at the school were very enthusiastic about our […]
We are so very grateful to our trustee Vic and her husband Ed for taking part in the London Winter Walk, fundraising for Plan Zheroes. They completed the marathon distance in an impressive time of 8 hours and 20 minutes. Between them they have raised over £2000 to help us get more food to people […]
We are very grateful to our brilliant volunteer, Anish, who inspired his company, Rosenblatt, to make a generous donation to our cause via their annual You Pick We Give charity initiative. This will help us get even more surplus food to people in need. Thank you for your support!
Take a look at this great film that Sean O’Hanlon has made for us. Featuring our very own Louise, it shows how some of the surplus food we collect from Borough Market is used by one of the fabulous charities we support – Oasis Hub Waterloo. Thank you, Sean, great job!
We are so happy that one of our loveliest and most dedicated volunteers, Kristen Frederickson, has agreed to be a Plan Zheroes ambassador. Kristen is a talented food writer, author of Tonight at 7.30: One Family’s Life at the Table. You may have seen some of her recipes on our social media. She and her husband John have been volunteering […]
We are looking for more people to help with our surplus food collections at the Real Food Market at King’s Cross on Thursdays and Fridays at 6.45pm and also at Borough Market on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 4.45pm, where we need people to help with the collections and also bike deliveries to two local charities. It’s […]
Alex Worrall, one of the stars at Deloitte who helps to maintain our online platform, is running in the London Marathon next weekend and fundraising for Plan Zheroes. Alex has been so brilliant in helping us over the years. He has always gone the extra mile and now he is going the extra 26 miles! […]
Thank you to the team at Deloitte, especially Richard, Joanna and Teni, who have developed our new site. It may look just like the old one now, but there will lots of updates heading your way!
We have now resumed our regular surplus food collections at Borough Market on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
Plan Zheroes’ inspirational co-founder Lotti celebrated her 95th birthday in style on July 11th.
Sally Butcher at the Peckham restaurant Persepolis told us she had made some Feijoada (a black bean stew) that she wanted to donate to a charity.
Thanks very much to everyone who has contributed to Lotti’s birthday fundraiser. As I write this we have raised £1032. That is a solid start after only two days.
Donations have increased again over the past few days, with some delicious food going to charities from Ted’s Veg and Pieminister at Borough Market, Cranswick Convenience Foods in Milton Keynes, Neal’s Yard Dairy and HSBC at Canary Wharf.
It has been a shorter working week because of the Bank Holiday and donations have been thin on the ground, although we had another large one from HSBC at Canary Wharf that Community Food Enterprise collected.
